It’s been a long, drawn-out process and now New Idea can reveal the real reason why Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie can’t come to a custody agreement.
According to Brad’s former bodyguard Kris Herzog, the pair are trying to avoid having to put their children through a trial.
“Contrary to what’s being said, Brad and Ange are still speaking all the time very amicably,” Kris reveals.
“They both just have very different views on how the kids should be raised and neither of them want to go to trial.”
In fact, Kris says the former couple are trying to come to a “middle ground” with the help of judge John Ouderkirk, who also officiated at their wedding back in 2014.
“They’re desperately and frantically trying to work through their issues to avoid [a trial],” Kris explains.
“The whole point of their divorce is that their lifestyles didn’t match and Ange was sick and tired of Brad’s lawless behaviour and lack of parenting structure with the kids, which they fought like cat and dog over.”
With hopes to work things out amicably, it is understood both Brad and Ange have insisted they be allowed to speak to their children seven days a week by phone or video chat when they are with the other parent.
“I’m 99 per cent convinced they’re going to meet in the middle,” Kris says, adding the alternative is far from ideal.
“Each kid will have to take to the stand and testify and they know it’s going to be a media circus so they’re now desperately working to put this to an end.”
