Melt,n,mix Choc-chip Slice

½ cup self-rais­ing flour ½ cup plain flour 2 tblsps co­coa pow­der 1 cup brown sugar,

firmly packed 125g un­salted but­ter,

melted 1 egg, lightly beaten 1 tsp vanilla ex­tract ¹⁄³ cup White Bak­ing Bits ¹⁄³ cup Milk Bak­ing Bits

IC­ING ½ cup ic­ing sugar mix­ture 1 tblsp co­coa pow­der 1 tblsp hot wa­ter 1 Grease an 18cm x 28cm rec­tan­gu­lar pan. Line base and sides with bak­ing paper, ex­tend­ing paper 2cm above pan edges. 2 Sift com­bined flours and co­coa into a large bowl. Stir in sugar. Make a well in the cen­tre. Stir in but­ter, egg and vanilla un­til com­bined. Spread evenly into pre­pared pan. Sprin­kle over the com­bined bak­ing bits. Gen­tly press into top of slice. 3 Cook in a mod­er­ate oven (180C) for about 20 min­utes, or un­til a skewer in­serted into the cen­tre comes out clean. Cool the slice in pan. 4 To make ic­ing, com­bine all in­gre­di­ents in a bowl. Stir un­til smooth. Trans­fer to a snap-lock bag. Squeeze into one cor­ner. Twist bag. Snip tip. 5 Driz­zle ic­ing over slice. Lift onto chop­ping board. Cut into squares.

TIP

Slice can be made up to five days ahead. Store in an air­tight con­tainer. For a change, re­place bak­ing bits with chopped Smar­ties.
