CHRISTMAS TIPS

Perfect timing New Idea and thank you for 6 Ways to Avoid Silly Season Weight Gain (NI Dec 10). It can be quite difficult to walk in on a festive feast filled with your favourite foods and try to keep the kilojoule intake to an acceptable level, but thanks to your commonsense approach, it won’t be hard to enjoy the offerings and stop worrying about weight gain. Sometimes it really is the simple tips and tricks that work the best. CHRISTINA HATZIS, YOKINE, WA.

BARBECUE READY

With summer finally here I was impressed with the barbecue recipes in this week’s mag (NI Dec 10). It’s great to have different meal choices that look and no doubt will taste delicious. The cooking section is always my first read in New Idea so I can make sure I have the ingredients whilst out shopping. Well done New Idea! EVDOKIA FRYER, BUNBURY, WA.

SAD LOSS

Thank you Sandy Kamper for sharing your story (NI Dec 10), My Girl Was Killed By a Cocktail. You have put the spotlight yet again, on the dangers of the internet. We can only guide our kids and prepare them for the big wide world. So many aspects of life we can’t control. Your daughter Paris has not died in vain, you have selflessly raised awareness out of your own loss. PATRICIA HARVEY, MOOREBANK, NSW.

MIGRAINE STRUGGLE

I really feel for Bianca Cicchetti, the young mum who suffers with severe migraines in It’s A Constant Struggle (NI Dec 3). In my entire life I’ve only had half a dozen, and that was bad enough. To read that she has suffered daily for five years, it must be taking a huge toll on her nervous system. Hopefully the injections will give her some relief but, more importantly, that a discovery of the cause of the migraines will come soon. In the meantime, thank you Bianca for sharing your story as there may be someone who also reads it and can give advice because you appear to have tried everything. Not everyone understands how crippling migraines can be. M. HOLLAND, RODNEY, NZ.
