LISA’S CRISIS TALKS

-

Strutting down the streets of Sydney last week with her mobile phone in hand, Lisa Wilkinson looked strained and frazzled as she took a call an onlooker has described as being “quite heated”.

“It looked like a tense exchange,” the eyewitness said at the time, adding Lisa, 59, was “far from impressed”.

And while just who was on the other end of the call remains unknown, an industry insider has indicated a possible move back to the Today show could be what’s causing The Project co-host stress.

News of Lisa’s possible return comes just weeks after Today revealed its new breakfast line-up, following the Nine network’s dumping of its previous stars, including Karl Stefanovic, Sylvia Jeffreys and Richard Wilkins.

But despite efforts to get the show’s ratings back on track by introducing Deborah Knight, Tom Steinfort and Brooke Boney to the panel alongside Georgie Gardner, it seems the decision has far from paid off.

“Nine would be smart to get Lisa back,” says Studio 10’ s former producer Rob Mcknight.

“She has proven herself in the role, but they would need to pair her with the right person.”

In fact, Rob says Sarah Harris would be his pick to sit alongside Lisa on the news desk if Nine wants the show to survive.

“Sarah has provided so many viral moments during her time on [ Studio 10] but can also report on tragic news events.

“Sarah Harris is basically the female version of Karl Stefanovic, without the baggage. If you put her and Lisa together you’ve

got a winning team.”
