DANNY FRAWLEY’S DARK FINAL DAYS

-

Following the devastating loss of Danny ‘Spud’ Frawley on September 9, new details have emerged of his final days, and the personal struggles he’d been facing prior to his death.

The AFL legend set alarm bells ringing when he didn’t show up for his 56th birthday celebrations with family the day before he died. The next day, his car was involved in what police called a “significant collision” with a tree in Ballarat, near the potato farm where he grew up, after he failed to attend a psychiatrist’s appointment.

According to The Age, Danny – who had openly spoken of his struggles with depression – had told friends in recent weeks his marriage was over and that he

was facing serious personal financial strain after a big investment went bad.

Danny is survived by his wife Anita and their three daughters, Danielle, Chelsea and Keeley, with the heartbroken family releasing a statement, sharing both their grief and love.

“The Frawley family are devastated, but full of love and pride for a remarkable man who touched the lives of many … Danny was to all who knew him a caring, loyal, selfless, loving person who would always put others first before himself, and aside from his work in football and media, he worked hard to use his profile to remove the stigma associated with depression and encouraged acceptance and support for those who suffered with mental health issues.”
