MICAH’S SECRET HEALTH BATTLE
After a four-week holiday romance turned into something more, Milly and her Californian beau Micah can’t wait to get married. But Milly’s mum Catherine doesn’t think Micah is suitable for her daughter.
“Micah is a selfish, potsmoking California dreamer,” she says. “Due to his addiction, he is a stoner, a loser, he is not the man that I want for my daughter.”
After moving to Australia and living with Catherine, Micah broke her ‘no drugs’ rule and had to move back to America. But, now the couple have turned to Bride & Prejudice: The Forbidden Weddings to show Catherine he has changed his ways.
And, in an effort to do so, he opens up to Catherine about why he has turned to drugs in the past, revealing his very personal mental health battle in this week’s episode.
“When I came to Australia, I was dealing with a lot of dark things and I think I brought a lot of my old habits with me,” he tells her. “I was dealing with depression and basically I felt like less of a man. I apologise. At the end of the day that really comes back to me so I’m sorry for that.”
It appears that Micah’s confession meant a lot to Catherine. “I think he is really feeling vulnerable and is hurting about the pain he has caused others,” she says. “I hope we can, not necessarily forget the past, but can turn the page on it.”
Micah adds: “I think acknowledging the consequences of my actions with Catherine will bring us to some kind of resolution.”
While this was a big step for the two, will it be enough to change Catherine’s opinion about Milly and Micah’s impending wedding?
