‘I WANT TO BE THE NEXT NINJA WARRIOR’

THE REALITY STAR HAS HIS SIGHTS SET ON A NEW CHALLENGE

-

The Block’s Jesse has decided he’s ready for another reality TV show, but this time it’s one that tests his physical endurance. Speaking with New Idea, the St Kilda, Melbourne, local revealed his plans to try out for Ninja Warrior.

“I’m not sure if I’m physically capable, but I’m pretty confident with all things. I’m not sure I’d be quite ready for it – maybe by the time it starts I will be ready,” he reveals.

That said, Jesse confesses he’s always been an adrenaline junkie.

“I kiteboard, surf and wakeboard, as well as go to the gym and lift weights, but that’s not really going to get you ready for Ninja.

“So, I train with [Ninja Warrior contestant] Melissa Armstrong a couple of times a week, because she is all about fitness and cardio – and she pushes me to do cardio because I don’t enjoy doing it at all,” he adds.

The obstacles Jesse feels he’d ace are the agility challenges, where you have to run and jump and swing on a rope, but he says the Ninja Wall would be a challenge. “I don’t think I’d be good at that because I’m not the fastest – I don’t have that explosive pace when I run. But that stuff reminds me of being in the school yard on the monkey bars, climbing trees – it’s like being a big kid, it’s really fun.”

The good thing for Jesse is that he has the support of his girlfriend Mel.

“She is happy for me to get fit again. Both of us, we used to train religiously – like six days a week – but your lifestyle changes and it gets more difficult and so she’s happy that I’m training again.

“I think she is going to start getting fit again as well!” he says.
