SOPHIE DILLMAN (Ziggy) WITH MUM KAREN

-

Sophie, tell us about your mother …

I’m so close to my mum. My sister, Hannah, and I did so much exercise and so many extracurricular activities when we were at school. We wanted to do everything we could with our friends on the weekend and both Mum and Dad were just troupers. We always got to our sporting events, our uniforms were always ironed and we always had amazing lunches. Mum never complained. She’s a superhero, and a registered nurse.

How often do you speak to her?

All the time! I call her for catch-ups, chats – anything. She has a great ear and is really good at giving advice and in times of crisis. No matter how big or small my crisis is, my mum will always hear about it.

What’s the most important life lesson your mother has taught you?

Mum is incredibly resilient. No matter what is thrown at her, she is able to manage. I’d hope that I have learnt that.

Has she been a wonderful role model to you?

Absolutely. We have such a great relationship. I call her when I need nursing advice – even though I’m already a nurse, somehow the nursing advice you get from your mum is better! She really is a friend as well as such an amazing mum.
