HEAD TO THE BIGHT
For the best whale-watching you can do on dry land, visit the Head of Bight Whale Centre on the Nullarbor Plain, on South Australia’s far west coast. Here, endangered southern right whales roll into the area from mid-may till late October to socialise, breed and calve. In peak season (July/ August) you can see up to 100 whales in the bay at any one time. The observation areas are wheelchair accessible and even though it’s a four-hour drive from Ceduna, it’s well worth the adventure!
