JASMINE AND COLBY SELFDESTRUCT
Could Jasmine (Sam Frost) and her late husband’s best friend, Colby (Tim Franklin) be about to make a decision they will regret?
This week Colby impulsively decides to throw a party to mark the arrival of his divorce certificate from his ex Chelsea (Ashleigh Brewer).
At the ‘celebration’, Willow (Sarah Roberts) and Dean (Patrick O’connor) soon realise they are watching Colby and Jasmine head down self-destructive paths. With Colby intent on drowning his romantic sorrows, Jasmine is also keen to numb her pain after the devastating news that she had recently experienced a ‘phantom’ or false pregnancy.
Jasmine is still deeply struggling to come to terms with the loss of her soulmate Robbo (Jake Ryan), as well as the recent discovery that her ‘pregnancy’ was not real.
Jasmine was last week given news that rocked her to the core – she had been experiencing a ‘phantom pregnancy’.
Also known as a false pregnancy or pseudocyesis, a phantom pregnancy is a rare condition that causes a woman to experience many pregnancy symptoms and truly believe – sometimes, along with those around her – that she is expecting.
Indeed, with Tori (Penny Mcnamee) and Robbo’s mother Wendy (Amanda Muggleton) by her side for support, Jasmine was gently told by the ultrasound technician at the hospital that she was not – and never had been – pregnant with Robbo’s child. And nothing could have prepared the young nurse for the dawn of this devastating realisation.
“Jasmine’s world has now crumbled,” says Sam. “She hadn’t been able to contain herself at the thought of being pregnant. She was so excited, and it brought her so much joy. She absolutely saw it as a blessing and wanted to have the baby so, so much.
“The ‘pregnancy’ was the last glimmer of hope she had of keeping Robbo alive. Jasmine has been through so much in the last few months and now she finds herself on another huge roller-coaster of emotions.”
But with Jasmine and Colby finding solace in each other’s misery, will the self-destructive pair make a decision they both come to regret and share a drunken kiss?
As viewers may recall, this isn’t the first time Jasmine and Colby have given in to temptation – only to quickly wish they hadn’t. Last year, the pair – who in 2018 were a short-lived romantic item – shared a drunken pash at a bar during a tumultuous period in Jasmine and Robbo’s relationship.
“Jasmine’s been behaving very erratically lately,” says Tim. “She’s definitely not in a good place. She’s feeling nostalgic and sad. She needs
some affection and company, which she misses so much. And Colby, who is also feeling sad and lonely, just happens to be there.”
