Princess Charlotte’s birthday surprise.
Living in isolation didn’t stop Prince William and Duchess Catherine from keeping with tradition and releasing new portraits in celebration of Princess Charlotte’s 5th birthday.
Every year, the Cambridges share a series of portraits of their children to mark their birthdays, with the pictures always snapped by their keen photographer and art history major mother, Kate.
However, this year’s portraits took on a slightly different tone. With the family self-isolating due to coronavirus, the new portraits provided a glimpse into what the royal family have been up to during lockdown.
The series of four photos released on social media, depicted the youngster engaged in charity work.
“The photographs were taken in April by the Duchess on the Sandringham Estate, where the family helped to pack up and deliver food packages for isolated pensioners in the local area,” read the caption.
In the photos, the princess is pictured holding food packages and knocking on doors.
On her actual birthday, May 2, the family released a fifth portrait from the same series, with a caption thanking the public for all their “lovely messages on Princess Charlotte’s fifth birthday”.
