Cameron Daddo tells... ‘WHY I WANTED TO JUMP IN’

-

He’s a multi-award-winning Australian actor, musician, presenter and Smoothfm radio star who has also worked extensively in Hollywood − not to mention a happily married father of three.

But for Cameron Daddo, now based with his clan in Sydney, Summer Bay truly feels like, well, his home away from home.

“It was interesting, because I was talking with the head of drama at Channel Seven about other projects – and then this character came up and I said ‘I think I want to do this!’,” he reveals with a smile.

“I remember talking to [Aussie actor and former Home and Away star] Marcus Graham when I came back from America, and he said ‘It’s the greatest gig in the world’. So I wanted to jump in.”

Having co-starred more than a decade ago alongside Georgie Parker in the telemovie Scorched, Cameron was given a warm welcome by the Home and Away favourite.

“She’s a pretty fine human being. She’s just a kind person,” he says. “But everyone – the cast and the crew – are so good. It’s a first-class outfit.

“I spent a lot of my early years when I moved from Melbourne to Sydney living around the area of Palm Beach. To me, it feels so familiar. To be working back on TV in nature, with the way the show is filmed on location, doesn’t feel like work. It’s really such a joy.”
