KIRSTIE ALLEY FLEES SCIENTOLOGY

-

One of Scientology’s most prominent followers has fled its global HQ amid posting bizarre online rants about “dirty methods being used to control people”.

The religion’s upper management is scrambling to contain the fallout after Kirstie Alley, 69, abruptly left her home in Clearwater, Florida, without telling anyone exactly where she was headed, sources reveal.

“She just picked up and left, and is telling people she wanted to isolate in Kansas instead.

“She’ll be far from the eyes of her Scientology minders, and given she’s a loose cannon, this has worried the church,” says a source with close ties to Scientology bosses.

“It’s come as a huge shock, given how devoted she has been to the cause after all these years. She has reached the highest level of studies and poured millions of dollars into the church. For her to up and leave is bizarre.”

Recently, Kirstie tweeted to her followers that she’d been driving for 14 hours, with insiders telling New Idea she’s been travelling between her second home in Wichita, Kansas, and the Maine summer house she recently sold, after living there part-time for 30 years. She described her time on the road during lockdown as “day 8 million in the twilight zone”.

Top Scientologists are said to be watching Kirstie’s Twitter with “apprehension” over what she’ll say next – especially after she asked for advice on being over 60 and moving to a new city.

“The fear is the church’s hold over her is loosening and she’s considering leaving,” says our source. “If she was to officially ditch the church, losing one of their highest profile members would be hugely damaging to their reputation.”
