‘GIVE ME A JOB!’

Long-time friends Naomi Watts and Nicole Kidman were once on equal footings in their careers. But in more recent times, it appears Nicole has outshone her close friend, while Naomi has struggled to land a hit.

The Mulholland Drive star’s most recent release, Penguin Bloom, has been met with mixed reviews. Although it topped the Australian box office, the Us-australian co-production has only earned $6 million and has a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 67 per cent.

A source tells New Idea that Naomi is now desperate to land a sure-fire hit – and is hopeful Nic can help her out!

“Naomi isn’t super comfortable going cap in hand to her best friend, but she’s taking a deep breath and doing it anyway,” the source reveals, adding that her career “never really recovered” from her flop Princess Diana biopic in 2013.

Nicole has found amazing success on the small screen, with critically acclaimed hit shows like Big Little Lies and The Undoing. She has many more projects in the works, and Naomi wants in. She too has tried her luck with television, but her Netflix series Gypsy was axed after just one season.

“Naomi wants what Nicole’s having, and is putting the hard word on Nic to cast her in one of her upcoming projects, since everything she touches lately turns to gold. Naomi is particularly interested in working on one of her new Liane Moriarty adaptations and won’t take no for an answer.”
