Kim Kardashian and Kanye West insist their $2.7 billion divorce is the most amicable in Hollywood – however, with the final series of her family’s reality show juggernaut premiering on March 18, no-one, least of all Kanye, should expect those good tidings to last.
New Idea has exclusively learnt that the Kardashian PR machine is working overtime to garner as much attention as possible so that Keeping Up with the Kardashians secures comeback ratings – and only the biggest scandals will do.
But not even a divorce between her daughter and one of the world’s richest rappers is enough for the show’s matriarch Kris Jenner, who’s said to be “encouraging all her girls to generate as many headlines as possible over the next month”.
First to answer her call was eldest daughter Kourtney, who’s obediently dropping clues about her reported new romance with her longtime friend and neighbour, Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker.
And recently, Khloé appeared to confirm she’s engaged to her controversial baby daddy Tristan Thompson, despite him cheating on her multiple times, including when she was heavily pregnant with their daughter, True, and on a separate occasion with her younger sister Kylie’s best friend, Jordyn Woods.
“You couldn’t ask for better publicity than a divorce and two new disastrous hook-ups, but Kris is playing all her cards right now so they can go out with a bang,” reveals an insider. “No-one knows the art of publicity and exploiting real-life situations to earn viewers like she does.
“In the meantime, expect Kim and Kanye to make out they’re happily consciously uncoupling, while a multitude of friends drip-feed the dirt on Kanye to the world. This isn’t Kim’s first time at the divorce court, but she’s never had a husband as rich as Kanye either. She and Laura [Wasser, her divorce attorney] are not taking any prisoners with this divorce.”
