Inside Julia and Sean’s catch-up while filming in Sydney.

THOUSANDS OF MILES WILL SEPARATE HER AND HER HUSBAND

Julia Roberts and Sean Penn have always shared a very special connection. Now, the A-listers are heading to Sydney to film their very first movie together, Gaslit.

But New Idea is told the Pretty Woman actress’ husband, Danny Moder, isn’t joining her Down Under for the months-long shoot, which has sparked new speculation their 18-year marriage could be going through a rough patch.

With Danny, 52, having established a successful career as a Hollywood cinematographer, the source believes it’s interesting that Julia, 53, didn’t try and get him a gig lensing Gaslit, so that they and their three kids, 16-year-old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, and 13-year-old son Henry, could remain together as a family unit.

Instead, Danny will continue working in the US, where the children are currently in school.

“Danny’s not thrilled at the prospect of Julia and Sean being together in Australia for months,” continues the insider. “He’s always had a bit of a chip on his shoulder about their close friendship. In a weird way, they make him feel like a third wheel when they’re all together.”

Sean, 60, married Sydneyborn actress Leila George in July last year, but his history with Julia goes back decades. Back in 2019, the pair showed up together at Coldplay singer Chris Martin’s birthday party, and they also shared a kiss on the lips at a 2013 awards show.

Coincidentally, Danny and Leila, 28, have both worked on the TV show Animal Kingdom.

“Leila will likely make a trip or two over there to see Sean and reconnect with her Aussie roots,” says the insider. “Danny and Julia’s marriage hasn’t been easy in recent years, but he is hanging on.”
