IT’S OVER!

HE THINKS IT’S TIME SHE ACCEPTS THE INEVITABLE AND CLOSES HER FASHION EMPIRE

-

David and Victoria Beckham were once a powerhouse business duo, thanks to the success of ‘Brand Beckham’. But in recent times, their empire has crumbled, thanks in large part to Posh’s fledgling fashion label.

“It’s no secret that Vic’s business has been bleeding cash for years now,” reveals an insider close to the former Spice Girl.

In the wake of the global pandemic, Victoria’s titular high-end label has struggled. As such, says the insider, it’s forced David, 45, into the awkward position of having to tell his wife, 46, to “give it up”.

“David said she’d be better off retiring and living comfortably with the kids and leave him to focus on Brand Beckham, which shocked and upset her,” says the insider.

Meanwhile, Golden Balls continues to strike gold for Brand Beckham.

“Moving forwards, it seems as though David’s got a lot of exciting plans for the future, with his advertising deals and [soccer] club in Miami,” says the insider. “But there’s nothing really outlined for Vic, except trying to keep her fashion career alive.”

As a result, the insider hints that David has given Posh an uncomfortable reality check.

“He says that he can’t keep bankrolling her business, as he needs to put everything into Miami, and he can’t risk their fortune and future on it.”

The writing has been on the wall for Victoria’s fashion label, with the business reportedly cutting nearly a fifth of its staff during the COVID-19 pandemic. But even before that, a “mystery shareholder” – believed to be David himself – bailed out the business in 2018 from its $28.7 million debt.

There had already been whispers that Posh’s celebadored clothing line had been planning a U-turn into more lucrative ventures like beauty and homewares. But these are yet to materialise, reportedly to David’s frustration.

“He doesn’t understand why she won’t change direction – especially because her fashion line has been a real strain on their business relationship,” says the insider.

Despite the bottom-line failures, Posh isn’t easily willing to quit her namesake brand.

“Vic’s said to David that she’s not ready to give it up,” reveals the source. “She’s insulted that he’d think this is the next step for her.”
