Next best is having the door within view, perhaps with a slight turn of the head.
Sitting with your back to a room’s entrance can be stressful, so if this is the case, pop a small mirror on the desk to reflect behind you (old powder compacts work well).
In offices, keep these points in mind: the person who sits closest to the entrance may be distracted by gossip and petty details. Those who sit with their back to the entrance could suffer backstabbing and succumb to politics. People sitting face to face can feel a sense of conflict, while back to back creates uncertainty – small barriers can be created with photos, plants or dividers.
