‘MY SURGERY HORROR’
THE ICONIC SUPERMODEL’S GIRLFRIENDS RALLY AS SHE SPEAKS OUT
Hers was one of the most recognisable faces of the ’80s and ’90s. But five years ago, around the time her fellow supermodels were enjoying career resurgences, Linda Evangelista suddenly vanished from the spotlight.
Now, the 56-year-old has explained why she became a recluse – cosmetic surgery left her “brutally disfigured”.
In an emotional Instagram post, Linda bravely revealed she underwent Zeltiq’s Coolsculpting to lose weight. Instead, the opposite occurred.
“It increased, not decreased, my fat cells and left me permanently deformed, even after undergoing two painful, unsuccessful corrective surgeries,” Linda explained. The mum of one, whose son Augustin is 14, added that she developed some side effects that she was not made aware of prior to undergoing Coolsculpting. These side effects “destroyed [her] livelihood” and sent Linda into a deep depression and the “lowest depths of self-loathing”. She also says she’s taking legal action against Zeltiq, which is why she’s speaking out, according to reports the model has filed a $50 million lawsuit against the company.
Linda’s friends voiced their admiration over her sharing her truth. Cindy Crawford wrote: “Linda – your strength and true essence are forever recognisable and iconic.” Helena Christensen praised “the courage it took to write these words” and described her as “beautiful inside and out”.
Meanwhile, Linda’s best friends, Christy Turlington and Naomi Campbell, reassured her that she was loved and always had their unconditional support, with Naomi telling her friend she is “now free”.
