BOOK IN A BONE DENSITY SCAN
Despite being active and playing basketball and tennis her whole life, Yvette Kaleel had concerns about being at risk of osteoporosis.
“I was worried because my mum has osteoporosis and broke her hip,” the 55-year-old says.
After speaking to her doctor, Yvette underwent a bone density scan.
“I found out I’m at a high risk of osteoporosis, especially for my hip,” she explains.
As a result, Yvette has changed her lifestyle, cutting back on her DJ gigs and being more mindful of diet and exercise.
“I try and keep active,” she says. “I keep up my calcium intake, do weight-bearing exercises [and] eat good foods for bone strength. Living with it [can be a] bit of a worry exercise, [but] get a bone scan and do what you can.”
