SHANE CHARTRES-ABBOTT

When Shane Chartres-abbott was shot and killed outside his home in Melbourne’s northern suburbs in June 2003, he had become known as the ‘vampire gigolo’. The 28-year-old sex worker, who charged as much as $300 an hour for his services, told clients he was an ancient vampire who drank blood to stay young. He was shot while leaving home to attend court, where he was accused of raping and biting a female client.

BORIS KONDRASHIN

Boris Kondrashin told police in Russia that he was a vampire and the devil had told him to kill his friend, cut up his body with a hacksaw and drink his blood. Kondrashin spent 10 years in a secure psychiatric unit after the killing in 1998. But on his release, he faked medical papers and spent over two years working as a GP! That is, until a local recognised and exposed him.
