ALEC LEANING ON EX-WIFE KIM!

THE ACTOR IS CONSOLED BY FAMILY FOLLOWING A DEADLY ACCIDENT

Alec Baldwin’s life has become a nightmare after he unknowingly fired a loaded prop gun on the set of new movie Rust, causing the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounding the director, Joel Souza.

“There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident,” the actor, 63, said following the incident.

Despite receiving an outpouring of support, a source confirms to New Idea that Alec has been “inconsolable”.

“It’s been a hellish week for Alec and sadly it’s not going to get much easier in the coming months or even years,” the source reveals.

The insider says that Alec is in no condition to speak to anyone outside of Halyna’s family and his own. But one person who’s been welcomed into the inner fold is his ex-wife, Kim Basinger.

“Kim’s one tough woman and she’s determined to help Alec through his pain,” says the source.

With six young children

to care for, Alec’s current wife, Hilaria, is also understood to “appreciate” Kim stepping in.

Even with his family rallying around him, Alec is still in a bad way.

“He’s taking a step back from acting in the immediate future for the sake of his mental health – he is inconsolable, and his family is worried sick.”

As US police try to determine what went wrong on the set of the film, the tragic incident is fuelling calls for change on the sets of other movie and TV productions.

Reports insist Alec has been a guiding support to Halyna’s family, as he too leans on ex-wife, Kim.

Alec has been spending time with Halyna’s devastated family, including her husband and son, following the harrowing incident.

Gone too soon: Halyna leaves behind a 9-year-old son, Andros, her husband Matthew and her father, Anatoly.
