OPERATION LONDON BRIDGE

For several years there has been a plan in place for what will happen following the death of the monarch, known as Operation London Bridge. According to the plan, the Queen’s private secretary will inform the prime minister and heads of state of the news. The Accession Council will then proclaim the new head of state, before her funeral goes ahead. But, following her stint in hospital, a palace insider reveals that the Queen’s closest aides are now scrambling to finalise all the details. “They are constantly reviewing plans for Operation London Bridge,” says the insider.
