‘A REUNION IS A MUST’

When the esteemed actor, producer, director and teacher decided to leave the show after three years, she asked if her much-loved character could “run off” rather than be killed off, because she hoped to return one day.

“I’d do it again in a heartbeat,” confesses Di. “It would be great to bring Alex back. It was such a great show and it was ground-breaking.

We had storylines covering AIDS, heroin, homelessness and First Nations. I think producers today lack the courage to tackle the big issues.”

Di, who went on to become an even bigger star on travel show The Great Outdoors, says she’s still great mates with some of the cast, including on-screen husband Shane Porteous, Jo Mitchell and Matt Day.
