THE SILLY SEASON IS HERE!

As Spring Carnival comes to an end, it’s time to think about the summer silly season and reflect on the fashion highs and lows we’ve just witnessed, in order to make some mental notes.

Honestly, girls, too much space has been wasted with ‘don’t show too much skin’ this year. Really? After what we’ve all just been through – a global pandemic and lockdown – it’s time to throw away the rule book and bring on the new you, baby!

While a breezy bit of skin can be oh-so classy, a full-on hurricane of flesh ... well, it depends on the room and the race. If you’re headed out to the disco, then why the heck not?

So how can we dive into summer and fashionably live our best lives ever? Here are a couple of tips from old Uncle Richard.

While not many of us have the killer body of Candice Warner, I couldn’t help but be impressed by the red monochromatic masterpiece she wore to Flemington. The Birdcage band should have played ‘Lady in Red’ when she entered the gates.

Even Delta Goodrem came wrapped in a giant pink bow that screamed, “So what? I’m here to have fun!” And YOU should scream that too!

The important thing to remind yourself is, “You do you.”

If you’re a show pony, you should be the biggest, brightest show pony in the room. Own it!

However, when we look in the mirror, we know in our hearts what looks great and what looks pretty average. Now, if that little, far away voice says, “Girl, you know you shouldn’t be wearing this,” it’s time to figure out where that voice is really coming from, right? If you figure out it’s the ‘Voice of Insecurity and Doubt’, then you better tell it to shut up! If it’s the ‘Voice of Reality and Truth’, well you might want to listen to it or maybe ask Eddie Mcguire if you can phone a friend. In fact, phone a friend – because she’d really love to hear from you!
