QUEEN’S FEARS FOR WILLIAM
The Queen is urging her grandson, Prince William, to stop flying his family in helicopters as she’s “terrified” for their safety. There has long been a rule that two direct heirs to the throne can’t fly together, in case of an accident, but the Queen relaxed that rule for William in recent years. However, after a handful of near misses involving chopper flights taken by royals, the Queen is said to be concerned. “She would like William to stop flying himself, particularly in bad weather, as helicopters are not the safest form of transport,” a source told The Sun. “She knows William is a capable pilot – but that so many things can go wrong. [She] does not think it is worth the risk for all five of them to carry on flying together and can’t imagine what would happen. It would spark a constitutional crisis.”
