BECKS & GORDON’S BITTER RESTAURANT RIVALRY!23

TEMPERS ARE FLARING IN AND OUT OF THE KITCHEN

-

It’s not surprising that David Beckham is worth an eye-watering $630 million, given that every business he touches turns to gold. But his latest plan for a money-spinner is creating a kitchen nightmare for his best mate, British chef Gordon Ramsay.

Over the past year, David has spent less time on the soccer field and instead focused on cooking up a storm with his eldest son Brooklyn, 22. The duo even went viral after posting their foodie videos to Instagram.

Now, New Idea understands the father and son are in “late-stage talks” to launch their own restaurant chain – and tempestuous Gordon is not happy about it!

“They had so much fun cooking together that they started brainstorming ideas for ways to make it into something more formal,” says a source, who reveals Brooklyn hopes to combine his photography skills with his cooking and make a Beckham family table cookbook.

But it seems his dad, David, 46, is more of a big thinker.

And with truckloads of cash to bankroll whatever he wants, the insider says the soccer legend is thinking about going into the restaurant business, with everything from takeaway chains to British-themed pubs, and high-end steak and pasta houses across the world.

The only problem with this scheme is it’s left David’s lifelong friend Gordon, 55, steaming mad – and as we all know, a mad Gordon Ramsay is something nobody wants to deal with!

“Becks doesn’t seem to realise that all of this is going to be in direct competition with Gordon, who’s long had a stronghold of English-style restaurants across the States. He has British pubs from coast to coast in the US, from Orlando to Lake Tahoe, including a bunch of flagship spaces in Las Vegas, where American customers eat up themed eateries,” says a source. “Becks has floated his hospitality idea to Gordon, who never minces his words and told him that under no circumstances would he support this plan.”

Becks is said to have suggested launching into cities where Gordon is not, such as Miami

– where Becks has his new soccer team – and Los Angeles, but Gordon feels like this would be the tip of the iceberg.

“He seems to think if he gives his blessing, next minute there will be Becks’ Beefy Burgers popping up next to his London flagships … it’s not something he wants,” the insider adds, noting their entire relationship is riding on having the situation sorted.
