‘WE CHANGED OUR LIVES... FOR THE BETTER!’
‘I STARTED A TRAVEL BUSINESS DURING COVID’
This time last year, Tara Harrison, 36, was working for a big travel company. Due to COVID, her hours had been reduced and she didn’t know what was around the corner for her.
“The only plus was I had more time to think about my dream of launching my own business. I’d never had time to turn that idea into a reality and I was feeling frustrated about the lack of control over my life,” Tara, from Sydney, tells New Idea.
Tara decided that COVID wasn’t going to stop her business dream from coming alive and she launched Aweventurer.
Her first trip, a yoga retreat to Byron Bay, sold out within a week, with Tara navigating COVID restrictions.
“I did question the wisdom of setting up a travel company in the age of no travel! There were moments of doubt, but I figured once borders opened people would want experiences,” she says.
This year she’s taking trips to track pumas in Patagonia, see a full-moon eclipse in the Atacama Desert in South America and witness rare blue algae light up the sea around Trinidad.
“You just have to stop putting things off and making excuses. My life today is so much happier.”
