A VERY BITTER DIVORCE
It was the horrific murder that shook a tiny UK village to its core. In February 2010, Lucy Landry was found bleeding to death in a neighbour’s garden in Pershore, Worcestershire. Lucy, 38, who was married to Texan millionaire Harold Landry, had been brutally stabbed 23 times outside the couple’s luxury home.
She was rushed to hospital, where she died of multiple stab wounds. It was later discovered Landry had attacked his wife of six years with a 20cm carving knife, leaving her to die beside a hedge. Landry, then 63, claimed he had killed Lucy by reason of provocation after finding out she was having an affair.
The Us-born millionaire, who made his money designing cranes for oil rigs, was found guilty of Lucy’s murder and sentenced to 16 years in prison.
The court heard Landry had taken steps to ensure his wife would not financially benefit from their divorce.
“I have no doubt that you intended to kill her,” Justice Foskett said, describing the murder as “unspeakable and unforgivable”.
“I have no doubt that you knew she was dead when you left her body.”
