BURIED ON THE FARM

-

Wealthy farmer Adrian Prout’s crime was a deadly cocktail of money and passion.

British-born Prout tied the knot with his wife, Kate, in 2000 and the pair later moved onto his sprawling farm in Gloucestershire, England, before cracks in their marriage started to show. The pair then became locked in a bitter row over the couple’s farm, which was valued at $2.2 million.

Kate was last seen in November 2007, after reportedly demanding a divorce settlement in the millions. She was reported missing five days later, before Prout was arrested and charged with his wife’s murder in 2009.

Despite denying being involved, he was found guilty of Kate’s murder in 2010 and sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 18 years.

When he was jailed, Kate’s body still hadn’t been found. Yet in 2011, Prout led police to a farm where he had buried her. Detective superintendent Simon Atkinson said: “I do hope that this will be the final chapter of these harrowing events for Kate’s family.”
