Adored by the Victorians for parlour display, the tropical coleus is back in favour for its vast array of wild leaf colours, patterns and textures. This showy member of the mint family, discovered by botanists in the mountains of Java, is grown as an annual in most parts of Australia. Although traditionally a shade lover, more recent cultivars are remarkably sun tolerant.
