Courteney & david ‘WE LOVE WORKING TOGETHER!’
THE FRIENDLY EXES REUNITE FOR THE LATEST FLICK IN THE SCREAM FRANCHISE
Ten years after they starred alongside each other in Scream 4, former couple Courteney Cox and David Arquette are reprising their roles as Gale and Dwight for the fifth film in the franchise, Scream.
Decades on from the original murders that shocked the quiet town of Woodsboro, California, the relaunch sees a new killer donning the Ghostface mask to terrorise the locals once more.
Courteney and David’s history with the Scream
franchise goes back a long way. Courteney previously revealed in the documentary,
You Cannot Kill David Arquette,
that their relationship has played out over the course of the films.
“We met on
Scream, we hated each other on
Scream 2, we got married on Scream 3, and we got divorced on Scream 4,” she said.
And while David admits that their relationship status hasn’t changed after filming the fifth instalment, he was excited to be acting with Courteney again.
“I always love working with Courteney,” David said. “There’s an intangible quality of having a relationship with somebody, and then being able to act with them, that you kind of can’t act … There’s a real beauty to the relationship that you can’t really fake.”
The pair, who are parents to daughter Coco, 17, have admitted in the past that coparenting has also helped them develop a good friendship.
“We’re friends, and we’ve communicated a lot because of Coco,” David added.
“We’ve been really open and supportive of each other. We never went head-to-head [or] battled each other through the process of divorce and through the process of raising our kid, so it’s made for a friendship and relationship that is out of respect.”
David is now married to producer Christina Mclarty, while Courteney has been in a relationship with Snow Patrol guitarist Johnny Mcdaid for the past eight years. SCREAM, IN CINEMAS THU.
