‘OUR BATMAN CHEMISTRY WAS INTENSE’
THE CO-STARS CONNECTED FROM THEIR VERY FIRST AUDITION!
Numerous actors have pulled on the Batsuit to play DC Comics’ iconic superhero over the years, from Val Kilmer and George Clooney to Christian Bale and Ben Affleck. Now, Robert Pattinson is the latest hunk to join the exclusive Caped Crusader club.
Robert stars as Bruce Wayne in a new imagining, simply titled The Batman. Also in the cast are Colin Farrell as The Penguin and
Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman.
When a serial killer begins leaving cryptic clues around Gotham City, Batman must venture deeper than ever into its underworld to unmask the culprit and bring justice to the corruption that has long plagued the city.
Dishing on their first audition together, Zoë admits she had an instant connection with Robert.
“The chemistry read was really intense,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “Rob was wearing the Batsuit, and it was a proper camera test … It wasn’t just reading lines in a room. So it was intimidating, to say the least.”
Robert, who had already been cast in the lead role, admitted that this was his first time reading lines and he was equally as nervous.
“I’m literally having this major panic attack, just looking for emotional support from Zoë, who’s trying to get the part,” he recalls.
Thankfully, their chemistry was evident to all and Zoë was cast in the role. This “intense” connection was also something that the pair carried over to the set.
“There could be a lot going on in a scene, but if I was able to connect with Rob and look into his eyes, it would immediately bring me into the moment,” Zoë added.
“I saw a look in his eye that I hadn’t seen before. Seeing something new and very vulnerable as well was really beautiful.”
