LOVE COULD BE IN THE AIR FOR THE AUSSIE SUPERMODEL
Elle Macpherson has been single and ready to mingle for over a year now – and judging from a recent date with French banker Olivier Sarkozy, she may have struck gold.
Elle, 57, and Olivier, 52 – the ex-husband of Mary-kate Olsen – looked every inch the cosy couple at Elton John’s Madison Square Garden concert on February 22.
“It’s a big deal for Elle to go public with anyone, but she adores Olivier,” a longtime pal tells New Idea. “He has been wining and dining her, charming her rotten, and she’s falling for it all.”
While it’s still very early days, Olivier – who finalised his divorce from Mary-kate in January – has been given a “glowing review” from Elle’s supermodel pal, Carla Bruni, who is Olivier’s sister-in law.
Olivier certainly isn’t the first Frenchman to win Elle over. Her first husband, Gilles Bensimon, also hails from the country, as does Arpad Busson, the father of her two sons.
Her most recent romance with controversial anti-vax doctor, Andrew Wakefield, ended two years ago, but the famously secretive mum of two didn’t confirm the split until December last year.
“Elle has been looking for Mr Right since then, but she didn’t want everyone adding their opinions onto it,” continues the pal. “She and Olivier have been taking their time, but she really likes him, likes his family, loves his background and they both love the tropics.
“Their favourite subject to talk about is business and they have mutual respect for what they’ve achieved. It’s a match made in heaven, and if Elle’s gone public, it’s getting very serious too.”
