Shane made his Test debut for Australia against India at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

1993

During his first Ashes series, Shane bowled the ‘Ball of the Century’, which signalled a revival of leg-spin bowling.

1994

Shane became the first person in 91 years to take a hat-trick in an Ashes series Test match.

1999-2000

Following the retirement of Mark Taylor, Steve Waugh was appointed Australian captain and Shane was promoted to the role of vice-captain.
