The average adult needs between seven and nine hours of shut-eye every night, but sadly many of us fall short. However, small steps like going to bed at the same time each night, removing devices like phones and tablets from your bedroom, and avoiding caffeine and alcohol before bed can make a difference. If you can, consider adjusting your bedtime so that you go to sleep and wake up earlier – studies show that early birds are more likely to have balanced diets than those who stay up late.
