SECRETS OF THE NEW SEASON

INSIDE THE BEHIND-THE-SCENES GOSSIP FROM THE HIT DRAMA

-

Ever since Bridgerton first hit our screens, it has taken the world by storm. After all, who didn’t fall in love with Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon (Regé-jean Page) as they found true love with one another? Now the series is back for a highly anticipated second season and we’ve got all the goss, dearest readers...

ANTHONY’S LOVE WOES

Unfortunately, heart-throb Regé-jean won’t be returning for the second season of the series (cue the tears), with the focus instead being on Daphne’s brother, Anthony (Jonathan Bailey). Determined to settle down and find a bride of his own, Anthony sets his eyes on Edwina – but when he meets her older sister, Kate, sparks fly! Will Anthony be able to follow in his sister’s footsteps and find his own happy ending?

SOME NEW FACES

This season will see a whole host of new cast members join the series, including Sex Education’s Simone Ashley as Kate and Charithra Chandran as Edwina, but Rupert Young is set to cause the biggest stir in the ‘Ton’ as Jack.

The dashing newcomer is not a character in the novels, so little is known about him except that he has a mysterious connection to the Bridgertons.

MEET MR BRIDGERTON

The Bridgerton patriarch unfortunately died before the start of the series, but Mr Bridgerton will make an appearance this season, likely in the form of flashbacks. Charmed star Rupert Evans has been cast in the role, with Netflix describing his character as “a loving and devoted husband”.

MUSIC TO OUR EARS

Season 1’s soundtrack was known for it’s use of classical covers of modern hits like Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish, and this season will be no different with a number of hits set to be given a makeover for the series.

The list includes bangers such as Nirvana’s ‘Stay Away’ and Miley Cyrus’ ‘Wrecking Ball’, and the hard-to-get Harry Styles ‘Sign of the Times’.

“That one was a pretty difficult clearance,” a music supervisor told Tudum. “I think everyone will really love it.”

A SPIN-OFF IS COMING

If you can’t get enough of Bridgerton then you’re in luck, because there’s a spin-off coming too. Netflix is set to make a show about Queen Charlotte in her younger years, and it will also feature a youthful Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury.
