JAMIE LEE: SHE’S FULL OF GUTS!

-

Jamie Lee Curtis is getting real and our minds are officially BLOWN! With an Instagram post reading, “I’ve been sucking my stomach in since I was 11,” a snap from the set of her movie, Everything Everywhere All at Once, shows the nearly unrecognisable star slumped at a desk with no makeup, an unattractive wig and a generous roly-poly belly that Santa Claus would be envious of.

Exclaiming, “I want there to be no concealing of anything,” Jamie Lee says it’s all her, baby!

Curtis has always been a tell-it-like-it-is, tough-as-nails, no-nonsense kind of gal. She was one of the first to let her hair go grey, and despises plastic surgery and fillers. So after a career spanning 45 years, why shouldn’t the 63-year-old star let her belly bounce free!

From Halloween to Trading Places, True Lies to Knives Out, Curtis has gladly shown off her curvaceous figure, knowing full well that’s what the Hollywood machine required of her. She was a good sport about baring her breasts and wearing next to nothing. But enough is enough!

Feeling liberated, she goes on to say she decided to “release every muscle I had that I used to clench” and hide nothing. Hasn’t she earned the right to ditch the Spanx and push-up bras, and let gravity do its thing? Can I get an amen?

How much time, energy and money have we all burned through in the quest for what society says is beautiful? The hair, the face, the gym, the tan, the tummy – isn’t it about time we all took a DEEP BREATH and stopped clenching? Easier said than done, right?

While Curtis might be our newly crowned ‘body positive’ queen, I don’t think any of us will be shocked when she turns up at the next red-carpet event looking like, well, Jamie Lee Curtis: belly clenched, boobs high, a face full of makeup and smelling like a rose. In other words, we could all strive to be a little bit more like Jamie Lee, but not all of the time! Follow Richard on Instagram @the_richardreid and Twitter @Rreidshollywood
