TAKING THE FAMILY REINS

-

Shane Warne’s entire family and fans alike have been left broken by the untimely death of the Australian cricketing legend.

However, nobody has been more devastated by the loss than his adoring children, including son Jackson and daughters Brooke and Summer. Since his passing earlier this month, Jackson has paid tribute to his father, referring to him as a best friend and brother.

“I don’t think anything is ever going to fill the void you have left in my heart,” Jackson said in a heartfelt post.

“Sitting at the poker table, walking around the golf course, watching the Saints and eating pizza is never going to be the same, but I know all you ever wanted for me is to be happy, no matter what,” he shared of Shane, adding: “You were truly the best father and mate anyone could’ve asked for. I love you so much, Dad, see you soon.”

One of Shane’s closest mates, boxing great Jeff Fenech has also spoken of Jackson’s bond with Shane. Despite his tough exterior, Jeff revealed he broke down while talking to Warnie’s only son following Shane’s passing.

“To hear him talk, the maturity of him and the way he spoke, he told me he was now going to look after their family just as his dad would have,” he revealed.

“He has taken the reins of the family and what a beautiful young person he is. When I spoke to Jackson, I broke, I couldn’t control myself. It’s very sad. It hurt me so much.”

Jeff said he was “blessed” to have had the sporting hero in his life. The duo met when Shane invited him to a poker game at Crown Casino in Melbourne in the days leading up to Jeff’s fight in 2008. While Jeff had his reservations, Shane managed to persuade him to play.
