BREAKING THE BIAS
This year’s International Women’s Day theme is #Breakthebias. Here, Sam talks about what that means to her.
A PERSONAL VIEW
“It’s about not accepting the version of you that others try to force upon you. Unconscious bias is almost worse than outand-out prejudice, because it’s harder to spot and call out. We must stand strong in our convictions. Breaking the bias means a gender-equal world free of discrimination and stereotypes. We need to celebrate and value people’s differences for a more inclusive and equitable future.”
SAM’S ADVICE
To the next generation of female CEOS, Sam says: “Don’t doubt yourselves. If you think you’re thinking big, think bigger! Finally, support each other. If things are truly to change, women need to lift each other up and find ways to collaborate on projects together.”
