NEW GOLF QUEEN!

THE TENNIS ACE HAS TRADED HER RACQUET FOR A 9 IRON!

-

Less than a month after her shock retirement from tennis, three-time Grand Slam winner Ashleigh Barty has already moved on to her next big sporting challenge!

“Ash has her sights on becoming Australia’s best female golfer – and she’ll stop at nothing to get there!” an insider tells New Idea.

Having already notched up her first victory after winning the ladies competition two weeks ago at her local Brookwater Golf & Country Club on Brisbane’s outskirts, gone are the eye-watering paydays from Ash’s years on the pro tennis circuit.

“She picked up a $30 cheque

for taking out the recent club tournament – that’s barely enough for a couple of cold beers back at the clubhouse!”

Ash’s fiancé, Garry Kissick, is also a budding golf pro, and the pair could well become the “next big power couple”, says the source. “[They] stand to make a lot of money on and off the fairways.”

With plenty of speculation around what’s next for Ash, 25, the answer may well lie in a recent social media post from sports betting agency, Neds.

“Ash Barty has officially been accepted into the Ladies Professional Golf Association [LPGA] and will make her debut at the Lotte Championship in two

weeks’ time!” they announced on April 1, referring to an upcoming event in Hawaii.

“If this isn’t an April Fools’ Day prank, which it likely is, the only way Ash could get a start is an invite directly from the sponsor – she’s not

good enough yet to qualify up against the world’s best women on the tour,” says the source.

“She’ll want to earn her stripes the way she has in tennis and cricket – the fair way! Ash likes to start at the bottom … but she loves being number one!”
