TOM’S $90,000 GIFT FOR SURI!

THE ACTOR’S GONE ALL OUT FOR HIS DAUGHTER’S BIG BIRTHDAY

-

It seems like just yesterday that Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise debuted their baby girl on the cover of Vanity Fair – and now Suri is well and truly all grown up!

The pretty teen celebrates her sweet 16th birthday this week on April 18, and sources say Katie, 43, planned a special mother-daughter day out involving all of Suri’s favourite things for the big day.

Having grown up in Chelsea within Manhattan’s art district, Suri is “very much a trendy New Yorker”, tells a source. “She told Katie she wants to start her day with good coffee, hit the shops in Soho, and finish off with a fancy dinner at [New York hotspot] Catch and a gelato on the way home. It’s kind of a typical day for them anyway, but Katie will make it special.”

As for presents, sources say Suri’s father, Tom, is keen to buy his daughter her first car – a Tesla Model X worth upwards of $90,000 – but Katie is pushing back.

Tom, 59, and Katie split in 2012 after almost six years of marriage. The actor hasn’t been pictured in public with his youngest child since 2013.

“The car is a nice gesture, if not a touch extravagant. But the thought of Suri driving in New York at her age is the stuff of nightmares for Katie,” says the source. “Suri’s been on so many adventures with her mum that she knows the subway and taxi system like the back of her hand.

“There’s plenty of time to learn to drive … most New Yorkers don’t even bother.”
