TROY SMASHES SLIM’S RECORD!
Troy Cassar-daley has surpassed the late Slim Dusty’s long-standing record for the most Golden Guitar Award wins in a lifetime.
At this year’s Tamworth Music Festival, Troy, 52, picked up three new awards, taking his overall tally to 40. Slim’s record was 38 awards.
Following his recordbreaking evening, Troy paid homage to the valuable advice Slim had previously given him.
“If there’s one thing that really rubbed off from Slim to me, it’s that he always said to make sure you feel like you’re growing,” Troy said.
Slim passed away in September 2003, at the age of 76, following a battle with lung and kidney cancer.
