‘MICHAEL WAS JEALOUS OF MY SUCCESS’
Andrew Symonds claims “money” played a part in the breakdown of his friendship with former Australian Test captain, Michael Clarke.
In a new interview on Brett Lee’s podcast, Andrew, 46, said he “really looked after” Michael, 41, when he first came into the Australian team, which “built a bond”.
But he says that things soured when Michael became jealous of a lucrative Indian Premier League contract offered to Andrew.
“Money does funny things. I reckon it may have poisoned our relationship,” Andrew explained. “My friendship with him is no longer and I’m comfortable with that.”
