SHOCK SPLIT AFTER 39 YEARS

Just one year shy of reaching their 40th wedding anniversary, The Blues Brothers star Dan Aykroyd and wife Donna Dixon have announced their separation.

The couple, who married in 1983 after meeting earlier that year on the set of Doctor Detroit, explained they’ll remain legally married and that the break-up is a happy one.

“After 39 years as a couple, we are now on separate life paths. We remain legally married, co-parents, co-workers and business partners,” Dan and Donna, also an actress, said in a statement to People. “This is our choice in loving friendship.”

The amicable exes are parents to three adult daughters.

Dan and wife Donna insist they’re better off as friends rather than spouses.

The couple worked together several times.
