BOOK OF THE WEEK

THE LADY DI LOOK BOOK

- BY ELOISE MORAN

While the late Princess Diana always made headlines with what she wore, for journalist Eloise Moran there was something more at play than just pretty frocks.

“She clocked on to the fact she could use her clothes to express herself where she could not verbally,” Eloise explains. “She became a master at this.”

What began as an Instagram account for Eloise has now become The Lady Di Look Book, which documents how the Princess of Wales wielded her growing fashion sense.

With the book featuring plenty of Diana’s looks during her time in the spotlight, Eloise hopes there’s much that will connect with readers.

“You can pull something from Diana’s many style phases that fits with you.”

And she also wants to paint a portrait of a “complex woman” who became increasingly savvy with what she wore.

With Diana constantly referred to as a “clotheshorse” during her time, she would go on to use fashion in clever ways, says Eloise.

“What was essentially a label used to objectify or silence her, became her biggest weapon.”

Going on Farmer Wants a Wife turned out to be quite an eye-opening experience for Paige, who suddenly had a revelation about her former beaus.

“Talking about my past relationship history on the show, I came to realise that when everyone else was talking about love, when I thought I’d been in love in the past, I probably wasn’t,” she tells New Idea.

“Coming on [Farmer Wants a Wife] has been a real growth experience for me,” she adds.

The gorgeous brunette, who grew up in Brisbane before turning her back on city life, has spent the last three years working on a sheep, grain and cattle farm in NSW’S Central West, while studying agriculture full-time.

While it’s estimated there are double the number of men living in rural areas compared to women, Paige’s busy schedule hasn’t helped her find someone to whisper sweet nothings to.

“It doesn’t help that all my friends are coupled up and would prefer to stay home, either,” she explains with a laugh.

On Paige’s wish list is meeting a man who is “kind and open-minded”.

“Someone I can share lots of adventures and laughs with,” she says.

Although Paige admits to feeling some “chemistry” with the lucky guys brought in to date her, she says there were no such sparks with the other farmers.

“They all called me sis and we’ve become great mates.”
