Garage Treasure Trove

-

When was the last time you cleared out your home garage? If you’re anything like Nzclassiccar’s deputy editor, Ashley, the answer to that’ll probably be last weekend — his current thoroughbred steed, a Grabber Orange Boss 302 Mustang, resides in a squeaky clean, superbly well-organized garage. However, if you’re more like this magazine’s esteemed publisher, Greg Vincent, things won’t be so well-sorted and tidy.

Indeed, he recently discovered this vintage bottle of Redex lurking in a spider-infested corner of the garage that also houses his Triumph TR6.

Apparently he brought this bottle of petrol treatment back with him from the UK when he returned to New Zealand in the late ’80s — prior to the establishment of the magazine. The vintage of the Redex is plain, as the lower banner on the label reads ‘FOR TODAY’S LOWER LEAD PETROL’ — ah, those were the days! Redex is still available, and still claims to improve fuel consumption by keeping your car’s fuel system nice and clean — but apparently Greg never tried it in his trusty TR, as this particular bottle remains resolutely unopened three decades later.

What vintage treasure trove have you got hidden away in the home garage? Why not bring it kicking and screaming into the light of day, then snap a quick photo and send it into us, along with an explanation of why your special product or item has been festering away and forgotten (until now) in your workshop for donkey’s years!
