North Shore Vintage Car Club

-

The North Shore Vintage Car Club was established in 1973 and is a branch of the Vintage Car Club of New Zealand (established 1946).

The club provides a great place for like-minded vehicle enthusiasts to gather, share their experiences, and contribute to the wider community. It holds regular events, from weekly club nights every Wednesday to ladies nights and monthly club runs.

“Our main interest is vintage and pre-1916 veteran cars, but anyone with a vehicle over 30 years old is welcome,” says club president Peter Lloyd.

The club is very well set up and operates out of a property in central Albany on Auckland’s North Shore. The club and its members also undertake restoration jobs at their club property. Alongside a factory 1949 Bedford tow truck, a 1935 Chev fire truck, a Morris 8 and a Wolseley, members are currently bringing back to life a Dennis Bus that was found in a swamp in the Waikato. The bus had been sitting in the mire for over 35 years when the club managed to retrieve it. On further research, it was discovered that this is the only remaining example in the world, so members are looking forward to seeing the finished product.

The club hosts a large annual swap meet and show, which is a great chance to check out a wide number of club cars, as well as look into club’s amazing facilities, including the impressive spare parts department.
