he 308 was Ferrari’s first foray into what would become quite a successful recipe for it, the mid-engined V8 set-up. Initially released as a Dino to avoid confusion between V8 and V12 cars (to some confusion for potential buyers at the time), the 308 and 208 were rebranded Ferrari in 1976. The Dino has languished somewhat in comparison to other classic Italian stallions, so we’d suggest now might be a good time to get on the horse, so to speak.

Harry Rogers bought this Ferrari 308 GT4 in 2011 from an old school friend who knew it would be right up Harry’s alley. The 308 has been all around New Zealand during his ownership, including to the South Island for two summer road trips since the luggage space and rear seat almost make the 308 a practical car. At 1.9 metres tall, Harry comfortably fits in the driver’s seat, something he says isn’t true of the V12 cars of the same era.

Harry has loved owning the 308, and has enjoyed its oddball nature, given its Dino heritage and Bertone styling — it was the first Ferrari to step away from Pininfarina.

However, other projects are now taking priority, so Harry’s decided it’s time to move the car on to someone else.
