James Bond’s 2000GT to lead Toyota parade
Bond fans will recall the Toyota 2000GT made famous in You Only
Live Twice. Housed at Toyota Automobile Museum, the 2000GT will lead over 150 classic cars from the museum’s collection in its 28th Classic Car Festival to be held on May 28 at the Aichi Expo Memorial Park in Japan’s Nagakute City, Aichi Prefecture.
Referred to as the Japanese E-type, the 2000GT will be joined by its English counterpart, alongside a Nissan Silvia, a Mazda Cosmo Sport 1, and a Ford Mustang, also from the museum’s collection. Participating cars will be driven around public roads in chronological order, with next-generation vehicles seen alongside their classic-car equivalents in a showcase of automotive evolution.
The 2000GT is highlighting the model’s 50th anniversary celebrations, and will feature in an exhibit, titled “Dreams and Desires: 1960s Sports Cars”, that focuses on the birth of Japanesemade sports cars following the 1964 Tokyo Olympics.
